Harding was the 29th President from 1921 – 1923. His presidency was rife with drama including, scandals, an extramarital affair, and the infamous Teapot Dome scandal. Before the Watergate scandal, Teapot Dome was regarded as one of the greatest scandals in the history of American politics. Harding also appointed a number of friends and acquaintances to federal positions. Warren died suddenly (of what is now considered to be congestive heart failure) in San Francisco’s Palace Hotel (Room 8064).
